Matt Farley has released more than 25,000 songs on Spotify (here's a recent banger), and he's starred in 17+ movies directed by Charles Roxburgh. Together, along with an expanding crew of friends, family, and fans, they've been making microbudget movies in small-town New England for more than 20 years - and they're showing no sign of stopping! As scholars of the hang-out scenes in cheap horror movies, Farley/Roxburgh pack their films with bizarre bits, outre characters, original songs, and an infectious genial derangement. They are masters of the funny reaction shot, and their cult following is slowly but surely building. BUFF is proud to present a double feature of two of their most delirious comedies.
In Boston Johnny (2023), a regional TV pitchman struggles with public fickleness, a burgeoning romance, and the provenance of his cute little puppy dog, Pippi, while rising to the top of of the Greater Boston area spokesperson game. The titular character is absurd, maybe evil, and supernaturally charismatic to those around him—a perfect character. The catchy theme song may stick in your head for years after watching.

PRAISE FOR BOSTON JOHNNY
"Motern Media puts its singular stamp on yet another film genre: this time, the Adam Sandler-style comedy about an emotionally immature, not-too-bright and kinda awful guy who you can’t help rooting for anyway." - Lucinda Mason, Letterboxd
"That I felt myself caring even a little bit about this character and his plight is a testament to the filmmakers’ genius." - Will Sloan, Michael & Us, The Important Cinema Club
